Dew Tour Long Beach 2018 was a skateboarding competition which was held at the Long Beach Convention Center from Thursday June 28th to Sunday July 1st, 2018. The event was free for people of all ages and VIP packages were available for premium seating. Dew Tour was a great opportunity for the people of Long Beach to enjoy the great California weather as it was an outdoor event.  There was art, food, beverages, and merchandise available from Mountain Dew, Otter Pops, Volcom, and many other companies. Long Beach Skate and Beachwood Brewery are two local companies which participated.  It was a great opportunity for fans, young and old, to watch their favorite international athletes compete. Fans were able to interact with the skateboarders between and even during competitions.

We would like to congratulate all participating athletes, but especially the participants from Latin America. Pamela Rosa from Brazil won the Women’s Pro Street Final with a score of 82. Jenn Soto earned second place with a score of 79.66; third was Alexis Sablone with a score of 78.66.  Pamela Rosa’s compatriot Kelvin Hoelfer earned a score of 88 to place third in the Men’s Pro Street Final. He finished behind champion Yuto Horigome of Japan who earned a 91 and Jagger Eaton of Arizona who came in second with 88.69. Jagger Eaton spoke positively of being able to interact with skaters from all over the world during the press conference.

The inclusiveness of skateboarding as a sport is evident in the different nationalities represented at Dew Tour podiums: America, Brazil, Japan, and Sweden. There was over $420,000 awarded to these international competitors. Female participants earning an equal amount to their male counterparts. It was beautiful to see young girls admiring the female athletes they obviously aspired to be like. We observed Jordynn Barratt, following her third place finish in the Pro Park Women’s Final, encourage a young girl as she posed for a picture.  We watched the great Chaz Ortiz shake hands with fans even after a disappointing run. Dew Tour athletes came to Long Beach to entertain and inspire and they did not disappoint.
